Description
Aviation Heritage The Air-King model represents the deep connection between Rolex and the pioneering age of aviation. Originating in the early 20th century and debuting as a tribute to military pilots in WWII, the Air-King first appeared officially in the Rolex catalogue in 1958. This elegant and precise aviation timepiece with dress watch sensibilities featured the model name in a unique italic typeface chosen by Hans Wildorf himself, an exception for the brand. Enduring Aesthetics The Air-King has endured as one of the longest running Rolex timepieces, undergoing various aesthetic and mechanical adjustments over its long life. This 2011 model, part of the third major revision, retained the 34mm case, but featured reshaped lugs and a new Oystersteel bracelet. Powered by the precise and durable engine of the 3130 calibre automatic movement with a 48hr power reserve, this edition echoes the mid-century aesthetics of the model with large 3, 6 and 9 hour markers and a silver dial to match the Oystersteel case.
