Description
The Sailor's Farewell small teapot has a traditional shape and curved handle crafted in fine bone china with a pale blue finish, based on Kit Kempâs original, whimsical fabric design. Embellished with a deeper blue and intricate hand-applied 22 carat gold details, it focuses on the character of the sailorâs loved-one waving goodbye on a rock with her scarf flying in the wind. Out at sea are a myriad of creatures her sailor may encounter including an octopus below the waves, together with the compass and lighthouse he uses for navigation. With this second collection for Wedgwood, Kit Kemp continues her imaginative, illustrative storytelling. Backstamped for authenticity and beautifully presented in a signature Wedgwood blue box this teapot makes a charming and original gift and is part of the tea ware used within The Whitby Hotel in New York and Ham Yard Hotel in London, co-owned by Kit Kemp.
