Description
This delicious, berry-filled, midweight red is all about fruit, with no oak. It's from Treviso in northeast Italy, and made by one of the region's greatest winemakers. Starting with just a few rows of vines in his family's garden and a tiny garage, Alessandro Gallici has become one of our favourite Italian producers. Here he's worked with the Cescon family winery, who first started breeding cows and silkworms, before turning to grapes and wine in 1969. The grapes are grown between the river Piave and the Unesco heritage hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, which provide a moderate climate and this fragrant, midweight red. Fruity and bright, it's charming on its own or with chicken or meaty fish like tuna. In summer, try it chilled.
