Description
Alta Tierra comes from a winery that won a Trophy in its inaugural vintage. That was before anyone in the trade had ever heard of the Elqui Valley. It lies next door to the Atacama desert and used to grow grapes for pisco. Then Italian Giorgio Flessati and his Chilean cousin Aldo Olivier thought: why not get the same brilliant flavour in wine. The secret of the region is its incredible purity of light (hence why some of the world's most important telescopes are based there) and its large diurnal temperature difference - hot sunny days and very cold nights produce terrific flavour in the grapes. Just taste this Pinot Noir - intense summer berry and cherry flavours with toasty spice from ageing in French oak. Mushroom risotto or duck - ideal!
