Antinori have been making wine for six centuries. For a whopping 26 generations, this family has produced some of the most celebrated wines throughout central Italy, including this - Tuscany's iconic Tiganello. It was one of the first 'Super Tuscans', back in the 1970s, that blended traditional with untraditional grape varieties. It's made primarily with Sangiovese, plus Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, and is now one of Italy's most sought-after wines. It's just as impressive when you crack it open. It's remarkably complex, with aromas of cherry, vanilla, mint and white pepper. There's a velvety plushness, but freshness, too, so it feels both elegant and rich. Serve with a no-holds-barred special occasion meal: filet mignon with black truffle, for example.
