Jancis Robinson MW called Alsace, "One of the great, under appreciated treasures of the wine world." It lies in the northeast corner of France, on the border of Germany. There are strong Germanic influences in the village names, the architecture, even the food, but the wines are firmly French. Centred around Hunawihr, this renowned cellar was founded in 1954, after WW2, when the area was at its lowest ebb. Today it has over 100 members and makes exemplary, award-winning wines.
