Cooper craftsman Jean-Edouard Dupard set up this superb domaine in 1859, and it was he who, as mayor of Puligny in 1873, made the decision that Montrachet - the region's most prestigious vineyard - be added to the village name (Puligny). Neighbouring Chassagne soon followed suit. Domaine Jean Chartron has been run by five generations, with current owner Jean-Michel Chartron continuing his family's great legacy.
