Weingut Josef Leitz is located in Rüdesheim at the western end of the Rheingau, a region which "established Germany's reputation for world-class white wines" wrote Hugh Johnson. The German Wine Guide notes, "Few in the Rheingau make finer wines than Leitz." This family estate is now run by Johannes Leitz, who took over what was then a 2.9-hectare property in 1985, aged just 21, and grew it to the 140 hectares he has today.
