On a trip to Bordeaux in 1972 with his Colorado-banker dad, Chip Lyeth fell in love with wine. He returned home, studied winemaking at California's top spot UC Davies, and 9 years later established Lyeth Estate. His passion for Bordeaux never left and, with a handful of other pioneers, they founded the Meritage Association in 1988 - champions of top-notch Bordeaux blends of California.
