Description
Vinho Verde is a classic of northern Portugal, brought up to date by terrific winemakers like Anselmo Mendes. He first studied wine in 1987, bought his first estate in 1997 and by 1998 had been made Winemaker of the Year. Since then, he's won numerous accolades and shown his terrific passion for both innovation and tradition. He's often included in the Top 100 Wineries of the World by Wine & Spirit, plus he's a great champion of the region's fabulous native grapes. One of the best is Alvarinho, the same as next-door Spain's Albariño. As you'll taste in Passionada, it has great lemony freshness and stony zip, with a little creamy weight thanks to a few months' lees ageing. Chill down and serve solo or with seafood and light antipasti.
