Description
Prepare to be thrilled by this modern Portuguese white. It has a wonderful array of crisp flavours thanks to a unique blend of grapes and meticulous winemaking. Portinho do Côvo is made by multi-award-winning Jaime Quendera, using the native grapes of Verdelho and Fernão Pires. Together they lend brilliant lemony intensity, with a hint of spice. The vines grow close to the coast, just off which lies the little island of Pessegueiro. There, legend has it, Cupid exiled three mermaids, hence the trio on the label. Mermaids aside, the coastal region is great for vines and assures a long, slow ripening for freshness and lifted aromas in the wines. Seafood features prominently on local menus - the ideal pairing for Portinho's citrusy zing.
