Description
Founded in 1883, Trapiche is one of Argentina's leading wineries. Twice it's won 'Argentine Wine Producer of the Year' at the International Wine & Spirit Competition and in 2019, 'New World Winery of the Year'. Every year Daniel Pi, one of the most capable and knowledgeable winemakers in the country, chooses the three best Malbecs from 90 separate vineyards for Trapiche's premium Single Vineyard range. Grapes for this wine were hand harvested from Finca Ambrosia's high (1300 metres) Gualtallary vineyard, then vinified in small vats and matured for 18 months in new French oak. It's a remarkable, textured wine, "sweet and intense, but at the same time very fresh. A touch of violets and dark chocolate" (James Suckling). Open early and decant.
