Cariñena lies in northeast Spain, a hot, arid region where sun-loving grapes like Garnacha achieve amazing ripeness. However, there's a small subzone, Paraje de Urbezo, that just in 2024 has been awarded its own DO in recognition of the stand out quality of its wines. Located between two rivers, its pebbly soils and the sustainable, often organic, practices employed there produce pure, fresh Garnacha reds.
