Description
Critic Tim Atkin MW said of this winemaker, "Duncan Savage thinks he hasn't hit his full potential yet. Heaven help his rivals when he does." Duncan first made his reputation at the top South African estate, Cape Point, showing the world that the winery's cool, wind-buffeted headland with its scrabbly, granite soils made magnificent wines with real elegance and freshness. After 14 years winning rave reviews, Duncan went out on his own. He set up a tiny winery in Cape Town, sourcing his grapes from top growers, his friends. One of his best mates was larger-than-life Boetie (Afrikaans for little brother). He sadly died in 2018 and this wine - from his extreme coastal vineyard - is a tribute to the great man and grower. Best decanted early.
