Description
Red Heads is a terrific, eco winery in the Barossa Valley - solar-powered and big on water reuse, with a reservoir in the grounds to catch the scarce rainwater. They are great mates with some of the best growers in the premium regions of South Australia, so have access to some of the finest parcels of grapes. They're always on the lookout for small batches that need a home. This wine is pure Mataro - the same as southern France's Mourvèdre grape and known in Spain as Mataro - from top grower Adrian Hoffy Hoffman in the Barossa's prized Ebenezer. Carefully fermented and aged in French and US oak, it's full of velvety black fruit - blackberry and cassis - with hints of earthy mocha and spice. Great with roast red meats or a hearty casserole.
